Dorothy Belden Maddison PARIS, ON - Dorothy Belden Maddison passed away in Paris, Ontario on Tuesday, March 18, 2003. Born in Moncton, NB in 1911, a younger daughter of George and Eva Davison. Beloved wife of the late Dr. George Edward Maddison for 63 years; mother of Dr. David Maddison (Doreen), St. George, ON; grandmother of Christopher, Brantford, Laura, Mozambique and Drew, Hamilton; mother of Donald (Aileen), Windsor; grandmother of Andria (Gerrit) Lund; great-grandmother of Adelina and Constantine of Reichersbeuern, Germany; grandmother of Stephen (Grainne), Toronto and Allison Maddison; mother of Beth (John) Lougheed, Leamington and grandmother of John Edward Lougheed, London. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Charlotte Davison, Moncton; and survived by her brother The Reverent James Davison (Enid) of Wolfville, NS; also survived by sister-in-law, Phyllis Dryden, Moncton and several nieces and nephews. Following the Second World War, the family moved from Halifax to Rothesay, NB. Dorothy studied music with her mother, a gifted organist and pianist. She enjoyed a lifetime of sports; tennis, badminton, curling and golf; she was a former Regent of the Duke of Rothesay Chapter I.O.D.E., a president of the ladies association of Riverside Golf and Country Club, and a former member of the Union Club, St. John. Dorothy spent many years in the study of art courses, participating in a large number of solo and group exhibitions. Following an exhibition of her paintings in the new Quispamsis Library, she was honoured for her donation of the proceeds for children's books. She was a member of the Beaverbrook Gallery, Fredericton, Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre. St. Andrews, NB and the St. John Art Club. In Rothesay, she was a member of St. David's United Church. A private family service was held in St. George, ON. The interment of cremated remains will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, NB MCCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Road North, Brantford was entrusted with arrangements. (519) 758-1553.
