Eli Bastarache 1913 - 2003 Eli Bastarache, 90, of Moncton Veteran's Center, formerly of Dieppe, passed away on Thursday, March 20th, 2003 at his residence. Born in Dieppe, NB, he was the son of the late Alyre and the late Evangeline (née: LeBlanc) Bastarache. He was retired from the Canadian Air Force, a member of the Dieppe Veterans Association and a parishioner of Ste. Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB. Mr. Bastarache is survived by his wife, Rita (née: Bourgeois); one daughter, Patricia (Don) Cronk of Newport, VT; one son, Jerry (Jo-Anne) of South Branch; three sisters, Dora Gosselin, Irene Comeau, both of Leominster and Rita Hebert of Moncton; four brothers, Yvon (Lorraine) of Moncton, Thomas (Patricia), George (Holly), both of Dieppe and Réné (Jeanne) of Leominster, Mass; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Edgar; three sisters, Marie, Therese, Jeannette and by three brothers, Alban, Edgar and Francois. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Sunday, March 23rd, 2003, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Monday from 3 pm until time of departure. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Ste. Thérèse Roman Catholic Church on Monday, March 24th, 2003 at 4 pm. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Veteran service will be held at the funeral home, Sunday evening at 7pm. Donations to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation "Veteran Unit" would be appreciated by the family.
