Rev. Oscar Bourque SHEDIAC, NB - Rev. Oscar Bourque, 94, of Villa Providence, Shediac, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the residence. Born July 24, 1908 in SaintAnselme, he was the son of the late Denis Bourque, and the late Mélecée Melanson. He studied at Université du Sacré Coeur in Bathurst , and Séminaire St-Coeur de Marie in Halifax, and was ordained priest January 19, 1936 in Moncton. He was curate in Dieppe 1936-1938; Bouctouche 1938-1941; Cathédrale N.-D.-de-l'Assomption 19411942; pastor in Adamsville , and St-Norbert 1942-1946, Shédiac 1946-1948; Director at Villa St-Joseph 1948-1953; pastor Ste-Marie-de-Kent 1953-1961, Barachois 1962-1972, Port-Elgin 19721974, Université de Moncton Ste-Croix Residence 1974-1979; chaplain Villa Maria 1979-1981; retired Moncton's archbishop's residence 1981, at Manoir Notre-Dame, and the last few years at Villa Providence in Shédiac. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. Remains resting Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton, Friday from 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Moncton. The funeral Mass will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2003 at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
