Norma Eleanor Hollis
Norma Eleanor Hollis TRURO, NS - Norma Eleanor Hollis, 77, of Truro passed away June 24, 2003 in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Joggins on July 9, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Gray) Hall. After graduating from high school, Norma was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce at various branches throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She was the first female assistant manager of the Bank of Nova Scotia. She also worked in the family car dealerships in Springhill, Moncton and Truro. She was a former member of the Broken Woods Golf and Country Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Truro Curling Club and Truro Golf Club. She was also an avid sports enthusiast in both viewing and participating. Norma will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Alton; daughter, Margo (David) Mills, Truro; sons, Rick (Tammi), Shortts Lake, Gary (Susan), Moncton, NB, John (Margaret), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister, Joyce Hoeg, Joggins. Norma will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Ben and Lauren Hollis. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hall, Truro, Deanna Hall, Toronto; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, James Arthur, William Jr. and sister, Jean in infancy. A Family Memorial Service has been held. Donations in her memory may be made to Joggins United Church Sunday School or the Canadian Cancer Society.
