Norman Marven Holder
Norman Marven Holder 1920 - 2003 Norman M. Holder, of Riverview,NB passed away at the Dr. Georges -L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at the age of 83 years. Born in Moncton, NB on June 30, 1920 he was the son of the late Surrey LeBaron and Christina (Taylor) Holder. He served with The Canadian Navy from 1939-1945 as Chief Petty Officer on the defensively equipped merchant ships on convoy duty. In 1975 Norman founded Holders Hallmark gift stores, which are located throughout Atlantic Canada, he was president of Holder Brookerage Ltd, past president of The Maritime Food Brokers, he served on the board of The Canadian Food Brokers Association. Norman was very devoted to his family, he and his wife Arlene enjoyed many winters in Sarasota, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Michael A., Christopher and his wife Kerry all of Riverview, Patrick and his wife Cathy of Moncton, and Eric Holder of The MacNeill Home for handicapped children in Dieppe; five grandchildren and one great grandson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, David in 1995; brother, James Holder and sister, Marjorie VanderMude. The family will be receiving friends and family at The Riverview Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2003 between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00pm for a celebration of Norman's life.
