J. Edward "Ned" Blakney 1913-2003 J. Edward Blakney, of Moncton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 25, 2003, at the Moncton Hospital following a lengthy illness, at the age of 89 years. Born in Salem, NB, on October 6, 1913, he was the son of the late John C. and Annie (Johnson) Blakney. He was a retired farmer, mechanic and a former employee of the T.P. Downey & Sons. Ned was a member of The Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church. He will be sadly missed by his wife Violet M. (Steeves) Blakney; son David (Arla) Blakney of South Woodslee, ON; step daughters, Karen Steeves of Moncton, and Patricia (Geoffrey) Steeves of Fredericton; brother Mark (Doris) Blakney, of Lakeville, NB; grandchildren, Stephen D. (Susan) Blakney, of Windsor, ON, and Michael A. Blakney, of South Woodslee, ON; step grandchildren, Katelyn and Natalie Steeves; great grandchildren, Joshua, Nigel, Taylor and Sienna. Also by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Beaumont, in 1987; and brother Rev. Lester Blakney. Resting at Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd., on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held at The Riverview Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 2pm with Rev. Sterling Penny Officiating. Interment will be in Grey's Island Cemetery. In Ned's memory, donations made to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by his family.
