GIBSON, Hugh Stewart- Born in Dundee, Scotland, August 30, 1931. Passed peacefully away after a short battle with cancer at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, St. John's, NL on Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Predeceased by: his daughter Sandra Nicholson, (nee Gibson) and granddaughter Amanda. Leaving to mourn: his wife Joan, (Williamstown, On.), daughters: Lynne and Diane (Sudbury, On.). Sons: Stewart (Florence) Mt. Pearl, Ken (Lucie) Gatineau, Brian (Shelley) Halifax,
11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, his brother Donald in Australia and a large circle of friends and extended family in Newfoundland, Ontario, Quebec, Scotland and Australia. A special thank-you to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre and the Leonard A. Miller Centre for their compassion, care and humour over the past two weeks; to the Mt. Pearl United Church choir for
welcoming him to Newfoundland and making him a part of the community and to the cabbies of Mt. Pearl for always being there to bring him
up over the hill. Viewing at Barrett's Funeral Home, Mount Pearl on Friday, February 20 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service to be
held at Barrett's Chapel, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mt. Pearl on Saturday, February 21 at 2 pm. Memorial service in Ontario to follow.
