Rev. J. E. Munson
Rev. J. E. Munson 1910 - 2003 WESTMOUNT, QC - The death of Rev. J.E. Munson occurred on Sunday September 21 at his residence in Westmount, Quebec. Born in Point Wolfe, Albert County, NB, he was the second son of the late Miles Munson and his wife Letitia Alexander. Mr. Munson was educated at the Provincial Teachers College in Fredericton, Mount Allison University and the University of Toronto (Emmanuel College). He taught school in New Brunswick before beginning his studies for the Ministry. He was ordained in June 1938, following which he served the United Church of Canada, for 50 years, 22 years in New Brunswick, 28 years in Quebec. Mr Munson was an outstanding speaker and served his churches and presbyteries well. He retired in 1988 and spent his retirement years in Westmount. He is survived by his beloved wife the former Dora Scott; Three children, David (Sharon), James (Jim)(Ginette), and Mary; four grandchildren, Scott, Suzanne, Jamie, Claude Mathieu; two greatgrand children, Carter and Emma; Sister Thelma; half brother, Miles; half sister, Mavis; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson, Timothy; two brothers, Arnold and Lloyd; and one sister, Eileen. A memorial service will be held at Westmount Park United Church at 2:00pm on Wednesday September 24, prior to the service the family will receive friends at the church at 1:00pm. A service will also be held in Alma, NB details will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Montreal Association for the Blind in Montreal or St. Stephen's United Church in Alma would be appreciated.
