William A. Blake of Black Point, occurred Tuesday

William A. Blake BLACK POINT, NB - The death of William A. Blake of Black Point, occurred Tuesday, October 14, at his residence at the age of 90. Born in Black Point, the son of the late Wilfred Blake and Alice (Murchie). Bill was a motor mechanic and began his career at Stewart McAlister's garage in Jacquet River. He worked many years for Caldwell & Ross Construction Co. mainly in Green River but also in other parts of the province, then to Bristol Motors, Dept. of Natural Resources, and, finally, at Steeves Motors in Dalhousie. He returned to the family farm in Black Point, where he raised beef cattle and grew potatoes and other vegetables. Bill was a member of the Bethel Church, Nash Creek, and served as an elder and trustee. He was deeply involved in the construction of the church basement and hall. He served as Treasurer of Miramichi Presbytery for many years and on the Board of the Dalhousie Cooperative. He is survived by his wife, Alice; two daughters, Mary Pelletier (Gilles) of Moncton, Mabel Jamieson (Errol) of Sydney, NS; son, Alex (Rachel) of Campbellton; eight grandchildren; one brother, Allison (Muriel) of Black Point, and a special cousin, Marion McMaster of Point La Nim; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Preston and Stewart. His funeral service will be held from Bethel United Church, Nash Creek, Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Vivian Moores (niece) and assisted by Rev. Ian Wetmore (nephew) and the grandchildren. Burial in New Mills Cemetery. Funeral arrangements in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point. www.mcmillansfuneralhome.ca
