J. Herbert G. Small 1913 - 2004 James Herbert Golding Small, 90, formerly of Cameron Street, Moncton, residing at Manoir Notre Dame, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2004 after a brief illness. Born in Saint John, NB on May 25, 1913 he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret Small. He attended St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #7940. Herb was a retired locomotive engineer, having worked for Canadian National Railway for 37 years. He was an avid bridge player and belonged to the Lions Senior Citizens Center. He also enjoyed fly fishing on the Miramichi River and was a longtime volunteer with the Ray of Hope Needy Kitchen. He is survived by his wife, Doris and by four sons, David (Laurie), James (Linda), John (Carolyn) all of Moncton and Robert (Carla) of Woodstock; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Katelyn, Andrew, Vanessa, Jeremie, Natasha, Kristina, Paul, Andrea, William, Erik, Mark and Kent. He is also survived by his three sisters, Helen of Sarnia, ON, Edith of Saint John, NB and Margaret of Pokemouche, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Don, Leo and Gerald. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all. Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz Street, on Monday, January 19, 2004 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at 11:00 am with Fr. Allison Carroll Officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring. In Herb's memory, donations made to The NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated by his family.
