Arlie Beth (MacLennan) Kay HALIFAX, NS - Arlie Beth (MacLennan) Kay, 47, died at home Friday, January 23, 2004 with her family at her side. Born in Sydney Mines, N.S., Arlie was the daughter of Doris MacLennan and the Late Warren (Doc) MacLennan. Arlie was a graduate of Sydney Mines High. She was employed in the Financial Service Sector for many years, more recently Arlie worked for the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Department of National Defense. Arlie's hands were always busy creating special gifts for family and friends. Her infectious smile and joy of living had a profound affect on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed by her husband, Dave Kay; mother, Doris MacLennan; sisters, Cathy Steele (Darrell Whitman), Sheila Billard (Winston Billard); father and mother-in-law, Ron and Laura Kay; sisters and brother-in-law, John and Vicky Kay and Karen and Richard Stephens; nephews, Jason and Aaron Billard, Zachary and Keir Steele; nieces, Victoria Steele, Christina and Heather Stephens, Bryenne and Missy Kay. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Arlie's life will be held at Edgewood United Church, 3055 Connaught Ave., Halifax, N.S. Monday, January 26, 2004 at 7 p.m. with Rev. Diane MacVicar officiating. A reception will follow at Edgewood United Church Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or QEII Foundation, Palliative Care Unit.
