Hazen Larry Horsman

Hazen Larry Horsman 1951-2004 REXTON, NB - Hazen Larry Horsman of Rexton, Kent County, NB passed on peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 31, 2004. Born in Moncton, NB on September 23, 1951, he attended Edith Cavel School as a young man and then on to Moncton High School. Throughout his school years he was an active participant in team hockey, football and baseball until an unfortunate knee injury which turned his creative energies to the music profession. His contributions and involvement throughout this next period of his life (1970's - present) was instrumental in creating and helping sustain the interests of Atlantic Canada's early and current musicians. He was deeply involved with the advancement of this industry and worked with all of the early bedrock of the industry, management and musicians. He was an intuitive and creative source of inspiration for everyone because of his mastery of communication. He enjoyed all personalities and their variations. Because of these abilities and lifetime commitment he was awarded this past October of 2003, a most prestigious presentation by the Music Association Industry of Nova Scotia (MIANS) and the American Federation of Musicians (Local 571) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Musical Legacy of the Province of Nova Scotia for over 33 years of unprecedented commitment. Hazen was predeceased by his father and mother, Percy and Helen (Wilson) Horsman, both of Moncton; and by his brother, Brian, also of Moncton. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Horsman, daughter of Dr. Francis and Juanita Kenney of Rexton; and his two loving children, Veronica and Matthew Horsman; also by his sister, Marilyn Robinson of Kentville, NS; and nieces and nephews. Special thank you and deep appreciation to all the doctors and staff at the Georges Dumont Hospital in the dialysis unit for their constant care and commitment to my husband. Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto, with visitation on Monday from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
