Ruth E. Brooks

Ruth E. Brooks 1918-2004 SACKVILLE, N.B.- Ruth E. Brooks, age 85, of Sackville , N.B., passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Middle Sackville, N.B. on June 17, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Maude (Hicks) Brooks. Ruth lived in her parents home in Middle Sackville until a period of failing health in 2002 made her admission to the Drew Nursing Home necessary. She was known as "Aunt Ruth", not only to her numerous nieces and nephews, but to all the neighborhood children as well. She loved children and worked as a childcare giver for many years. Prior to a stroke in 1994, Ruth was active in her church, Middle Sackville Baptist , teaching preschool Sunday School, and attending faithfully the Ladies Aid, Women's Missionary Society and the Seniors Bible Study Group. She was well known for her hospitality, her humour and her gardening abilities. She is survived by one brother, John (Hilda) Brooks of Springhill, N.S. and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor and six brothers, Frank, Fred, Lorne, Maurice, Norman and Ora. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 4, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Campbell's Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 2:30 P.M. at Middle Sackville Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Four Corners Cemetery, Middle Sackville, NB. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Middle Sackville Baptist Church or to the charity of ones choice.
