William J. S. Russell

William J. S. Russell MIRAMICHI, NB - William (Bill) Russell of St Patrick's Drive, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 3, 2004. Bill was born in Miramichi on July 19, 1924, the son of the late Samuel and Ruby Russell (Comeau). He was a Stationary Engineer having retired in 1989 from Acadia Pulp and Paper where he worked as Superintendent of the Steam Plant, prior to that he worked as a locomotive fireman and engineer for CNR for a number of years. He always enjoyed his work and was extremely dedicated to his job and a sincere friend to his peers and co-workers. Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10. He was also an active participant in serving his beloved St Patrick's Catholic Church. Bill was a World War II Veteran having served overseas in England, Holland and France. It was during this time that he met and married Helen Jean White (Brant) in June of 1946. They returned to Canada and began to build their life together becoming the foundation of their family today. Bill is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 57 1/2 years; daughter, Jacqueline Stewart (Adam); son, Kevin (Doris); stepson, David White (Diane) of England; brother, Walter Russell (Phyliss) of Sudbury, ON; grandchildren, Chris Stewart (Stephanie), Kerri King (Lindsay), Kim Stewart-Mah (Eugene), Pam Tweedie (Ben), Debbie Russell (Jason), William Russell; stepchildren, Susan Reardon (Graham) and Stephen White of England; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn. Adam, Hannah, Ethan, Jadyn, Jake, Holly and Jasmine; nieces, Pam, Faye; nephew, Douglas. He leaves a special friend, Robert Jones, who was a true companion not only in fishing season but each and everyday. He will be sadly missed by each and everyone of us but his kind and caring way will be part of each of us forever. Mass of Christian burial for Mr. William J.S. Russell will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2004 at 2pm from St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Nelson, Miramichi. Funeral arrangements are in care of Maher's Funeral Home. Phone 7734321.
