Mr. W. H. Gray Godfrey

Mr. W. H. Gray Godfrey 1918 - 2004 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. William Henry Gray Godfrey, husband of the late Bella Godfrey, of Chatham Ave., Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at the age of 86. Born in Millbank, he was the son of the late Everett R. and Janet (Gray) Godfrey. He was a retired employee of N.B.Power Corp., working as a stationary engineer. He was a member of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi; a Veteran of the Second World War, serving in England and Europe with the Provost Corps. He was a member of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion, severing as a former President, Chaplin, as well as service officer for Branch # 3 for many years, in addition to being involved with Provincial Command for the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Boyde (Howard), of Abbottsford, B.C.; two sons, Boyd Godfrey (Bonnie), of Saskatoon, Sask., and Everett Godfrey, of Miramichi; one sister, Anna McKnight, of Hamilton, Ont.; two brothers, Ronald Godfrey, of Miramichi and Parker Godfrey, of New Hampshire, USA; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Bella Ingoldsby, in 1991; one son, Michael Godfrey; one brother, Walter Godfrey. Visiting will be held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 pm and Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, later in the spring. Please note, members of Branch # 3, Royal Canadian Legion are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 1:30, for a Veteran's Service, following the funeral service. As expressions of sympathy, donation to Riverside Cemetery Fund or the N.B. Lung Association, would be appreciated by the family.
