Albert J. Ouellette
Albert J. Ouellette 1920 - 2004 Albert J. Ouellette, 83, of Veterans' Health Centre, formerly of York Street and Leslie Street, Moncton, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital, Moncton. Born May 25, 1920 in Rogersville, NB, he was a son of the late Cyrille and Eléonore (Lavoie) Ouellette. Albert had a keen sense of humour and a gregarious, friendly nature. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, shuffleboard, cooking, gardening, and fishing. He attended Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, and was an active member of Christ-Roi Club d'Age d'Or, and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 6, Moncton. Albert served in action overseas during World War II, in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, from 1941 until 1945. Before his retirement in 1985, Albert was employed at the C.N.R. Shops from 1945 to 1954, and with the City of Moncton from 1955 to 1985. Albert volunteered for the Canadian Red Cross Society, delivering meals to seniors, from 1993 to 2000. As a kind and thoughtful father, he will be remembered by his two daughters, Lorraine Ouellette and Gisèle Cormier (Noël), both of Moncton; his five sons, Laurie (Andréa) of Ottawa, ON, Alcide, Robert (Sharon), Raymond, Frank (Teresa), all of Moncton. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson; three sisters, Irène Arsenault (late Bruno) of Beresford, Thérèse Boucher (late Edmond) of Miramichi and Cécile Wiebe (Ed) of Edmonton, AB; one brother, Cléo (Ruby) of Oshawa, ON; several sistersin-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews and cousins. He also leaves, Sister Mélanie Lavoie, r.h.s.j., his last living aunt. He was predeceased in 1980 by his wife, Yvonne (Thibodeau) Ouellette; also one sister, Alfreda (Fernand Benot); two brothers, Fernand (Gisèle) and Louis (Albina). Visitation will be at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton, Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at ChristRoi Roman Catholic Church, Dominion Street, Moncton, Tuesday April 27, 2004 at 2 pm. The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the ChristRoi Club d'Age d'Or, immediately following the Mass. Interment, following cremation, will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. The Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch # 6 will hold a Memorial Service at 7 pm Monday from the funeral home. To all who knew Albert, raise a glass in his memory. www.frenettefuneralhome.com
