Leaman M. Doherty SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Leaman Maurice Doherty, 85, of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2004. Born in Sackville, he was the son of the late Bert and Ethel (Ward) Doherty. He attended the Main Street Baptist Church. Leaman was a loyal 47 year employee of Enterprise Foundry, starting as a labourer and retiring as Departmental Manager. He was an avid golfer and life member of the Sackville Golf Club having won the Club Championship several times. He was honoured with the Herman Tingley Memorial Trophy as the clubs most valuable member in 1997 and 1998. Coaching junior golfers for many years he took great pleasure in their achievements. Leaman was an honourary member of the Sackville Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Canadian Ceramic Society. His wit, good humour and sportsmanship will not be forgotten by the members, many friends and especially his family. He was also a member of the Sackville Senior Glee Club. Leaman was devoted to his family and greatly enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing, camping and travelling with them, he will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Ella (Maxwell), Sackville; two sons, Wayne (Beverley), Rothesay and Brian, Cole Harbour, NS; one grandchild, Elizabeth, Rothesay; four sisters, Madeline Crossman, Berlin, Mass, Frances Card, South Dennis, Mass, Nellie (Henry) Johnson and Eva Estabrooks, Sackville; a sister-in-law, Delores Doherty, Sterling, Mass and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Georgina Orpin and brothers, Donald, Reginald and Leslie; brothers-in- law, Lincoln Card, Raymond Estabrooks and Raymond Crossman. The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Sunday and Monday from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 2 pm, Pastor Barry Todd officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Sackville Memorial Hospital "Give Comfort" Campaign 2004. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
