Mendel P. Greenblatt 1920 - 2004 Mendel Peter Greenblatt, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4, 2004 at The Moncton Hospital in his 84th year. Born in 1920 in Thetford Mines, Quebec, to the late Moses and Pauline Greenblatt. Mendel attended Moncton area schools, graduating from Moncton High School in 1937. In World War II, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a radar mechanic and was posted to England, Scotland and the Azores. Following the war, he operated Maritime Clothing Co. until 1975. He was later employed with the Federal Government, with the Correctional Services of Canada (Dorchester Penitentiary) and the Department of National Defence, (No. 5 Supply Depot). Mendel was a member of Tiferes Israel Synagogue, the Royal Canadian Legion, Jewish War Veterans Association and Transport 2000. Mendel will be sadly missed by his daughter, Pauline Greenblatt of Ottawa, ON; son, Marvin Greenblatt of Calgary; sisters, Esther Fine of Moncton, Mildred Woods of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, Ruth Manson of Toronto, ON. Mendel was predeceased in 2001 by his wife, Bessie Greenblatt (Berelovitch) who he married in 1948; his daughter, Ilsa Greenblatt Shore in 1996 and brother, Jayson Greenblatt of Halifax. Funeral service will be held Sunday, June 6, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Tiferes Israel Synagogue, 56 Steadman Street, Moncton.
