Charles Vincent Wood 1918 - 2004 It is with much sadness, the family of Charles Vincent Wood, announce his passing, at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, June 12, 2004 after a lengthy illness, in his 85th year. Born in Woodpoint, NB, on September 15, 1918, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Brown) Wood. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved dogs and being outside, enjoying nature and teaching his love of nature and animals to his children and grandchildren. There were countless hours of stories and tales his family never tired of. Charlie volunteered for military service in the Canadian Forces Heavy Artillery Division in 1939, finishing his military service with No. 18 Provost Corp. (Military Police Officer) in St. John's, NFLD in 1945. He went on to work with heavy equipment for many years, retiring from the City of Moncton in 1977. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ethel (Shave) Wood; four sons, David (Ellen) of Coldstream, BC, Barry (Marion) of Houston, BC, Brian (Lila) of Moncton and Terry of Lower Coverdale; four daughters, Lynn (Graig) Ward of Shediac Cape, Wendy (Greg) Wolfe of Moncton, Cindi (Donald) Anderson of Trenton, ON, Deborah Johnson of Riverview; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Christina Banks of Fredericton; special brother-inlaw and sister-in-law, Russ and Emily Shave of Marystown, NFLD and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son, James Wayne in infancy; brothers, Edward, Roy, Rupert, Earl and Beverly; sisters, Blanche, Lillian and Hattie. In keeping with Charlie's wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date. For those who desire, donations in Charlie's memory can be made to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital or the I.W.K.
