Ernest A. Cotton TORONTO, ON - Ernest A. Cotton, beloved husband of the late Helen Aiton, passed away at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Tuesday, June 29, 2004 . Dear father of Robert D. and Kathryn LeBlanc (Mark), loving grandfather of Brett (Wendy) and great-grandfather of Kai. Ernie's career started as a lay minister in Newfoundland, he then became Recreation Director for War Services. Following this he moved to Montreal to be the Director of St. Andrew's Youth Centre. This developed into his long career with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, which included being Executive Director of Wabana Boys Club on Bell Island, followed by Executive Director of the Moncton Boys and Girls Club. During this time, he did his field work in the Maritimes which lead to him becoming Regional Director. His passion was helping people, which attributed in him getting involved after his retirement with a variety of volunteer activities. This benefited the lives of youths and seniors throughout the city of Toronto. These included the youth at the York Detention Centre, organizing speakers forum at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, visiting patients at Sunnybrook Hospital, volunteering with Travelers Aid and working with the Executive of the Association for Jewish Seniors. A public memorial service will take place in late August at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Toronto. In his memory, donations to Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M4N 3M5, or the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, 7100 Woodbine Ave., Unionville, Ontario, L3R 1A3, would be appreciated.
