Jules "Rusty" Leger
Jules "Rusty" Leger DARTMOUTH, NS - Jules "Rusty" Leger, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Dartmouth on Saturday, July 17, 2004, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Moncton, N.B., the son of the late Camille and Rosa (Richard) Leger. Educated in Moncton, Jules served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. A well-known senior hockey player in the 1940s and 1950s as well as an avid curler, he was a charter member of the Beausejour Curling Club in Moncton and competed in provincial and national championships. Member of the Somme Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, Dartmouth Curling Club and Hartlen Point Golf Club. Jules worked for CNCP Telecommunications for 43 years, stationed in Saint John, Fredericton, Moncton, Campbellton, N.B., and Halifax. He was an active member of the Allstream Pensioners Association. Survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth Ann (Gillespie); brothers, Robert of Montreal and Georges of New Germany; sisters, Rosaline Leger, Gilberte McDonald, Cecile Lebans, Elizabeth Donelle and Simonne LeBlanc of the Moncton area. Loved by sons, Daniel (Bonnie Woodworth) and Gregory (Kilby McRae) of Dartmouth, Michael (Patricia Bérubé) of St. Margaret's Bay, N.S.; daughter, Anne Marie (Robert Ferguson) of Scarborough, Ont., Adored grandfather of Claire, Zoe, Thomas, Pauline, Heather and Maureen. The family wishes to thank the VON, QEII Palliative Care and Dept. of Health, Continuing Care District 9 for their care and support. Visitation at Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth, Thursday, July 22, 2004 from 2pm to 4pm, and 7pm to 9pm, with funeral Mass celebrated by Father Owen Connolly at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Dartmouth at 10am Friday, July 23, 2004.
