Charles Estabrooks SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Charlie Estabrooks CD MMM, age 83, of Sackville occurred at his residence on Friday, July 30, 2004. Born in Dornoch, Scotland, he was a son of the late Charles and Jessie (Matheson) Estabrooks. Charlie was a veteran of World War II, returning from overseas to work at Enterprise Foundry until its closure. He was a lifelong member of Main Street Baptist Church Choir, a life member of Branch #26 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and served on both the town council and the board of the Sackville Memorial Hospital. He was the town crier for many years, being recently awarded Sackville's Citizen of the Year. Charlie was well known for his love of music, having been bandmaster of the 8th Canadian Hussars Regimental Band, the Sackville Citizens Band, Manager of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, and a member of the Maritime Band Festival Committee. Charlie will be sadly missed by his son, Keith (Louise), Ottawa, ON; a granddaughter, Anne; and a grandson, Michael, both of Ottawa, ON. He was predeceased by his wife, Iris in January of this year; and his sister, Mary Gifford. Visitation hours will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, NB (364-1300) on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 2 pm, Pastor Barry Todd officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. The Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a memorial service Monday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
