Ambrose R. Smith SACKVILLE, NS - It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the death of Ambrose Robert Smith "Smitty" on July 31, 2004 surrounded by his family. As a past fire chief of the Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department he attended the Maritime Fire Chiefs Convention annually making many friends throughout the Maritimes. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, June Powell; daughters, Darlene (Tony) Peters, Riverview, Kim Smith (Rob Patey), Enfield; grandchildren, Cory and Kayla, Riverview; brother, Lester (Roz), Halifax; sister, Mae, Sackville; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm Wednesday and Memorial service 2 pm Thursday, Rev. Bill Woodworth officiating, all held from Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division; Palliative Care Unit, QEII Health Sciences Center; or a charity of choice.
