Mary J. "Lew" Steeves

Mary J. "Lew" Steeves 1915 - 2004 Mary J. "Lew " Steeves, 89, of Forest Dale Home, formerly of Lower Cape went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at The Moncton City Hospital with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in Albert on August 7, 1915, the daughter of the late W. Howe and Frances (Prosser) Reid. She was a very active member of the Lower Cape Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching the little ones in Sunday School. She was a lifetime member of the Women's Missionary Society, a member of the Lower Cape Women's Institute and also a member of the Lower Cape Community Center. She was a retired school teacher and taught in the Albert County area for many years. She will be remembered by many for her salt and pepper shaker collection and the hospitality of her and her husband in their antique room. Mary was known throughout the community as "Aunt Mary" to everyone. She was very devoted to her family and loved to get visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to have company come and enjoyed being hostess to the numerous family and friends. She was a very faithful Christian who lived for her Lord. This showed in her life from day to day. She was a very humble lady who gave all the praise to her Savior. She will live on in our hearts forever. She was a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her loving and devoted son, Willis and daughter-in-law, Carol of Lower Cape; her beloved grandchildren, Beverly Stevens (Dereck) of Lower Cape, Scott Steeves (Kelly) of Edgett's Landing, Susan Wilmot (Scott) of Lower Coverdale; her precious great grandchildren, Katelin, Kristen, Samuel, Dustin, Colton, Morgan and her sister, Golda Vincent of Calhouns. She will also be deeply missed by her step-mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Williams (John) of Cape Station and many nieces, nephews and many good friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Steeves; sister, Maisie Tingley; brothers -in-law, Everett Tingley and Austin Vincent. She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.The funeral Service will be held at the Lower Cape Baptist Church on Friday, October 29, 2004 at 2pm. Internment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape. At Mary's request memorials to the Lower Cape Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home, Hopewell Cape, 734-2780.
