David Alexander McCollum AMHERST, NS - David Alexander McCollum, age 68, of Amherst passed away Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Salisbury, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Ritchie) McCollum. David owned and operated his own insurance agency, David McCollum Insurance, for 15 years in New Brunswick. He was a member of the School Board District 15 and a member of the Riverview Lions Club where he served as president in 1972 - 73. David moved to Nova Scotia where he was employed with the Cumberland Correctional Center as a Correctional Officer. He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce (Isla) Spicer; one son, Gregory (Shelley) of Sussex, N.B.; two daughters, Janet (Gary) Kinnear of Brookdale and Pamela McCollum of Rothesay, N.B.; one brother, Joseph (Norma) McCollum of Stewiacke, and two sisters, Anna MacIllwraith of Saint John, N.B. and Cecilia (Mike) Muscat of Sussex, N.B.; grandchildren, Kyle and Kendra Kinnear, Molly (MJ) McCollum and Keith Bishop and several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by a granddaughter, Maggie McCollum; brother, John and a sister, Rosemary Nutter. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
