John Kellock Hays PICTOU
John Kellock Hays PICTOU LANDING, NS - John Kellock Hays, 73, Pictou Landing Road, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2004 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Andrew and Catherine Hays. John was a resident of Stellarton for a number of years where he grew up. He moved to Moncton where he was employed for 12 years with the C.N.R. later being transferred to Montreal where he worked for some 23 years. While in Moncton he served as President of the R.I.A. He retired from the C.N.R. with 36 years service in 1984. He was a resident of Pictou Landing for the past 10 years where he was an adherent of the Bethel Presbyterian Church. He played with a number of local bands when he was younger. He loved music, big bands, and wood working. Surviving are his wife, the former Kathleen "Pat" Eaton, Pictou Landing; daughter, Nancy Lynn (Guy Lavoie), Montreal; sons, Stephen Paul (Amy Wang), Vancouver, William Andrew, Vancouver; granddaughter, Piper. He will also be sadly missed by his extended family, the Eatons who were very close to him. Predeceased by his parents and a number of brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 Friday, November 19, 2004 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Saturday, November 20, 2004 from the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Pictou Landing, with Rev. Joanne Vines officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Pictou Landing Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the NS Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
