On Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, Michael Edward Scott passed away peacefully with his angel and best friend Lorraine Day by his side after fighting a lengthy and courageous battle.
Born in New Waterford, Jan. 3, 1959, Michael was the son of Dorothy (Petrie) Scott, of New Waterford, and the late Raymond Scott.
Michael is survived by his pride and joy, Michael Scott Jr.; sister, Cheryl (Gerald) Gillis, all of New Waterford; and brother, Bernard Scott, British Columbia. Michael is also survived by nieces Ashley, Lisa and Lacey.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Michael’s quiet nature, wit and sense of humour will be greatly missed. He surrounded himself with treasures including Lorraine, his close friends and extended family. Mike was involved in sea cadets as a young boy, loved the outdoors and was an avid fan of stock car races. He worked in construction for many years and owned his own business. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, and taking pride in working with his hands is how he will forever be remembered.
There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. A private family service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, from St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating.
