Alyre J. Mazerolle

Alyre J. Mazerolle 1927 - 2004 RICHIBUCTO, NB - Alyre J. Mazerolle, 77, of Richibucto, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 24, 2004. Alyre was born in Pointe-Sapin on December 16, 1927 the son of the late Charles and the late Phebee (Daigle) Mazerolle. He worked as a social worker at the Saint-John Provincial Hospital, before continuing his studies and concentrating on being a mentor, social worker, teacher and school principal. Mr. Mazerolle was a member of the S.E.R.F, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, and member of the Golden Age Club. He presided over the scallop festival during its earlier years, as well as a member working on behalf of the association of special needs children and alphabetization. He was an avid wood worksman, creating many Christmas mangers for family and friends. He loved playing crib and enjoyed summers spent at his summer residence, often just sitting and staring at the beauty of nature. He was a very special husband, father and grandfather who will never be forgotten. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Laureanne (DesRoches); his son, Michel (Monique Gallant); and daughter, Denise (Roger Meunier); his four grandchildren, Renee, Christine, Remi (Mazerolle), and Joline (Meunier); his four sisters, Christina (NDSC) of Moncton, Bertha (Willie Roop) of Pointe-Sapin, Viola (Yvon Daigle) and Ernestine both of Fredericton. He was predeceased by three brothers, Leonard (at a young age), Charlie (Emma Richard) and Leonard (Shirley Mundle), and one sister, Eva (Arthur Daigle). He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Alyre was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and a loyal friend, always quick to help those in need. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive visitors at Thompson's Funeral Home in Richibucto on Monday, December 27, 2004 from 7 to 9pm, Tuesday, December 28, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 6 till time of departure for funeral, which will be held at 7:00 pm at the St-Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in Richibucto.
