Herman Melanson

Herman Melanson 1916 - 2005 Herman Jules Joseph Melanson, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2005. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Gaudet) Melanson. He was owner of Melanson's Auto Electric and was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a former Councilor for the town of Dieppe and he was former Chairman of the Local District for Fox Creek. He was a member of the School District Counsel and he served on the Board for the Caisse Populaire in St. Anselme. He also served on the Ability Transit and on the Codiac Transit Commission for many years. He was Honorary Chairman of the Dieppe Veterans Association. In 1992, he was presented the 125th Commemorative Medal of the Confederation of Canada in recognition for his volunteer work to his community. Herman will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Marie (Galley) Melanson and children, Marcel (Sharon Ivany), Germaine (Eugene LeBlanc), Alice (Francois Gagnon), Herman (Susan Leger) and David (Elizabeth Hemphill); eight grandchildren, Steven, Shelly, Patricia, Eugene, Andre, Philippe, Joey and Alexandre; two great grandchildren, Abraham and Halley. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and Ben, and by his three sisters, Jeanne, Therese and Yvonne. The family wishes to extend their THANK YOU and GRATITUDE to Dr. Kim Deware and Dr. Sylvie LeBlanc and the Moncton Private Duty Nurses for the care and compassion shown to Herman. Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz Street, Moncton, on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Dieppe Military Veterans Association and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 will be holding a memorial service on Tuesday evening at 6:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in the spring. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Dieppe Veterans Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the memorial of donor's choice would be appreciated. www.tuttlefuneralhome.com
