Lloyd Elwood Garland 1924 - 2005 Lloyd Elwood Garland, 80, of Riverview, and formerly of Dawson Settlement, passed away on February 8, 2005 at The Moncton City Hospital. Lloyd was born in Prosser Brook on October 26, 1924 the son of the late Frank and Nina (Carson) Garland. He was self employed and did Interior and Exterior Painting and Decorating. He was a member of the Dawson Settlement United Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32 Hillsborough, having served as President for several years. He also was Deputy NB Commander for the Royal Canadian Legion. He was very proud of having served his county in World War II. Above all things Lloyd was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who loved his family very much. He was very proud of his family and would often tell everyone about them and all their accomplishments. He will live on in their hearts forever and never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his seven daughters, Rhoda Garland of Ontario, Ann-Marie Arsenault (Gilles) of Rogersville, Sharon Winters (John) of Dartmouth, Shirley Garland of Toronto, Wendy Boucher (Donald) of Alberta, Kelly Kline of Riverview, and Cheryl Garland of Dartmouth; his five sons, Gregory of Ontario, Kevin (Sherry) of Saskatchewan, Glenn of Ontario, Michael (Chris) of Ontario and Bradley (Ardis) of Riverview; a sister, Betty Jones of Moncton; his 23 precious grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Thelma (MacDonald) Garland in February of 2000; a sister, Violet; and a brother, Gorham. He will be resting at the Dawson Settlement United Baptist Church with visitation on Saturday from 2 until time of service at 3pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the church on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 3pm with Pastor David Ross Officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion will be having their service on Saturday at 3pm at the church preceeding the actual funeral service. Internment will be held in Dawson Settlement Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Dawson Settlement United Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
