Perley Viles Steeves 1913 - 2005 Perley Viles Steeves, of Moncton, passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 12, 2005 after a prolonged illness, at the age of 91 years. Born in Waltham, Massachussetts in 1913, and later moved to Hillsborough, NB with his parents, the late Levi and Annabelle (Ramsay) Steeves of PEI. A veteran of WWII, he served overseas with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles from 1939-1943, serving his country in Iceland, Great Britain and France. He was seriously wounded in Falais, France in 1942. It was during his military service that he met his wife to be, Elizabeth Lang, in Hamilton, Scotland in 1940. They were married in 1943 in Scotland. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6, Moncton and a loyal member for over 50 years of the Keith Lodge Masonic Order # 23 F&AM. He was a steadfast Christian, being a member of Highfield Baptist Church for many years, and later a long time member of Parkside Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Lang) Steeves; daughters, Catherine Hallihan (Cyril) and Gloria Briggs (Dan) of Moncton, Patricia Charlton (Robert) of Charlottetown and Kimberly Steeves of Moncton; sons, Raymond and William (Deanna) of Moncton and Philip (Lindy) of Hamilton, ON; brother, Raymond Steeves of Moncton; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his sisters, Annie and Muriel. Perley was a dedicated family man, well respected by his family and anyone who knew him. He is deeply loved by his family, and he will be dearly missed, but it is comforting to know that this is not a "Good-bye", it's only a "See you later." Always remembered and forever loved. Resting at Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz Street, Moncton, on Monday, February 14, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and the Keith Lodge #23 F&AM will be holding memorial services at 6:45 pm on Monday. Funeral Service will be held at Tuttle Bros. Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jim Alley officiating. Interment will be in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
