Richard W. Whalen
Richard W. Whalen 1948 - 2005 Richard Whalen, husband of Linda Whalen, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. Born in Moncton, October 17, 1948, he was the son of Margaret Whalen (Coates) and the late Paul Whalen. He was an inspection manager NB Coastal, Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Richard had a passion for salmon fly fishing on the Miramichi, he enjoyed classic Chevs and was a member of the Mountain View United Church. Richard was a kind man who was always willing to help others. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda (McDowell); a daughter, Jillian at home; a son, Mark (Linda) of Dartmouth; his mother, Margaret; brothers, Jim (Laura), Danny (Margaret Ann) all of Moncton; a sister, Cathy LeBlanc (Gilles) of Oakville, ON.; in-laws Keith and Clara McDowell, Wayne and Sally McDowell, Peggy and Bill Justason all of Pennfield, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Paul in 1972. At Richard's request, there will be no visitation prior to the funeral service to be held from Mountain View United Church, 85 MacBeath Avenue, Moncton on Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 11:00 AM. A reception for Richard's friends and family will follow the service in the church hall. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oncology Center or the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital would be appreciated.
