The death occurred at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ottawa, on Friday, February 27, 2009, of Dr. Catherine Murphy, formerly of Chelton and Summerside, age 65 years. Beloved daughter of Doris Hughes of Summerside. Cherished mother of Carmen Riedel of Summerside and Monique Riedel (Rob Lutes) of Montreal. Loving grandmother of Cormac. Sister of Lorraine Allen, Marie (Pascal) Rodriguez, Pauline (Peter) Ackermans, and Muriel (Richard) Stevenson. Predeceased by former husband Peter Riedel; father, Austin Murphy; and stepfather, George Hughes. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment later in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay.
