Placide "Cid" Trottier DARTMOUTH, NS - Placide "Cid" Trottier recently passed away at the age of 72. Formerly of St. Ubald, Quebec, he was the son of the late Emilien and Gabrielle (Cinq-Mars) Trottier. He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Gallant); sons, Richard and Marc (Joanne); daughter, Claudette (John); grandsons, Craysyn and Corwin; brothers, Régules, Florent, Vital, Constant; sisters, Bérengère (Leo), Roselle, Piérrine (Roger), Gisanne (André), Céline; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father, mother, brother, Clermont; sister, Jocelyne; and sister-inlaw, Rachel. He served 30 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, beginning his Career as an Instrument Electrical Technician (Air), and finishing as Master Warrant Officer with the Maritime Command Management Consulting Service Unit, Halifax. He traveled extensively across Canada and Europe, and was stationed at times in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories (now Nunavut), and Germany. He was a Scout Leader in Germany and an Air Cadet Squadron Leader in Montreal. He took his family on many memorable camping trips, was a muchappreciated handyman and car buff, and loved to travel, leaving behind many treasured slides and picture albums. He loved watching sports and was an avid, although amateur golfer. He mostly enjoyed having all the family over for Sunday dinner. He was a loving, generous, compassionate, family man whose door and heart was always open to anyone in need, and will be sadly missed. The family would like to express their profound appreciation and deepest thanks to everyone for all their help, encouragement, and generosity during the past two difficult weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 9, at 1 p.m., at St. Vincent's Church, 320 Flying Cloud Drive, Forest Hills, Dartmouth. Reception will follow service.
