Margaret (Peggy) West 1920-2005 Peggy West of Riverview passed away at her home in the care of her family on Friday, August 19, 2005. Born in Leeds, England she was the daughter of the late Sam and Marjorie Sellers. Peggy was a Veteran of the Second World War having served as a radar operator in the British Women's Auxiliary Air Force for four years. It was there that she met her husband and best friend, William A. (Bill) West to whom she was married for 60 years. Peggy was a founding member of St. John The Baptist Anglican Church and had been a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and member of the vestry and was a life member of the Anglican Church Women. She was a member of the Riverview Veteran's Assoc. and the War Brides Assoc. Peggy was an accomplished artist and her love of flowers was reflected in most of her paintings. As recently as last week, she was working on a watercolor of "cat tales." She was a member of the Riverview and Moncton Art society and the "Painting Friends." In her younger years she was an excellent athlete and enjoyed swimming, tennis, golf and field hockey. Peggy was a homemaker all her life. As a result of this career choice her family, friends, church and community were all enriched from the selfless giving of her time, talents, love, laughter and caring for others. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters and three sons, Beth Sparks (Ron), Riverview, Mary Oldford (Gordon), Grand Falls, NL, Gloria Graham (Stephen), Chester, NS, Graham (Andrea Hargreaves), Moncton, John (Darlene Wiggins), Oliver, BC, Andrew (Ellen Duplessis), Truro, NS; she was the grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Jeff Sparks (Suzanne Beaulieu), Joanne Mallett (Steve), Mike Sparks, David Sparks, Will Oldford (Dawn Bragg), Beth Oldford, Amy Oldford, Stephanie West, Denise West, Scott Graham, Lori Graham, Sarah West and Andy West; great grandmother to Jacob and Sam Mallett, William and Jenna Oldford, Josee and Philip Sparks; a brother, Dick Sellers of Maghull, England survives her. Predeceased by sisters, Winifred and Dorothy Cottle. No visitation by request. Funeral service at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, Riverview, Monday, August 22, 2005, 11am. Rev. Canon Albert Snelgrove officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service.
