R. Murray Leitch 1936 - 2005 The passing of R. Murray Leitch at the age of 69 of Riverview occurred peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Moncton Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Helen Jean (LeBlanc); sons R. Kevin (Brampton, Ont), Colin (Dartmouth, NS), Derek (Brampton, Ont), and Bruce (Riverview, NB); daughter Susan (Lee Turner) (Shediac, NB); siblings Jack (Shirley), Firma (Wayne Zais), twin sisters Debbie (Leitch) and Babs (Russell Malay); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt. Murray had a "forever sparkle in his eye" for his five grandchildren, Mark, Erin, Josee, Danielle, and Ana. Murray was predeceased by his parents Elton Russell Leitch, Florence (Gudger); brother, William 'Bill' Elton Leitch; and one grandson. In Nova Scotia, Murray was employed at Shearwater and was an officer in the Canadian Army Reserves. During the late 1960's he worked for the Department of National Defence (H.M.C. Dockyards) and the Department of Transportation. After moving to Moncton in 1968, Murray continued to work for TransportCanada and retired after 23 years. Known as "Mur" to friends and family, he enjoyed celebrations with friends and family, chess, rook, crib, and genealogy. His great love of genealogy and the Leitch/Gudger family history brought wonderful explorations, discoveries, new friends, family and fun for himself and Helen over the past several years. Visitation will be held at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview Tuesday, August 30, 2005 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Parish prayers will be held Tuesday evening at 8:30pm at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Riverview August 31, 2005 at 11:00am, with Fr. Jeff Doucette officiating. Interment will take place in Alderwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by his family.
