Lieu de décès : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 4 mars 2009
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved mother and grandmother, Alexis Menchefski, formerly of Whitney Pier and a resident of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John Neil ‘Jack’ and Alice (Bona) MacIsaac. ‘Lexie’ grew up on Park Street in Ashby. She was the youngest sister of the fun-loving and feisty MacIsaac family, of which she was the last surviving sibling.
Lexie dedicated her life to the care of her family; first her father and her many nieces and nephews, then her husband, her son and his family.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Joanne) and her two granddaughters, Emma and Mary Jane, of Sydney. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, with special mention of nephew, Eddie Hemmings and nieces, Judy Bergeron, Alexis DeLong and Patricia Lamoureaux. She leaves behind her dear friend Mary Catherine ‘Frances’ Christoff.
Alexis was predeceased by her husband, Joe ‘Gib’; sisters, Mabel MacLennan, Catherine Clarke, Mary Hemmings and Cecelia Leslie and brothers, James, Wilfred, Michael and Joseph.
Cremation has taken place. By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m., with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow immediately in the church basement. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Holy Redeemer Building Fund.
Alexis’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the exceptional and compassionate staff at Harbourstone and City Homemakers.
Mother, your selfless devotion to so many will never be forgotten.
Condolences may be sent to the family at sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca
