It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Joyce Estella Parsons, 85 of Glace Bay, on March 3, 2009 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex.
Born in Carbonear, Nfld., Joyce was the daughter of George Brenton and Susanne Babbs. She was employed with Home Care in Sydney. Joyce also cared for and looked after numerous children throughout her life.
Joyce was a member of the Salvation Army.
Joyce is survived by daughter, Pauline, Sydney; sister, Laura McCarthy, Glace Bay; grandchildren, Billy (Michelle) MacNeil, Sheri (Ross) MacIntyre; great-grandchildren Shelby, Jenelle and Oliva.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, George; brother, George; sisters, Golda and Francis.
A special thank you to the staff of the Seaview Manor for the care they gave to Joyce over the past number of years, and thank you to the staff of the Glace Bay Hospital for being there at our time of need and also a special thank you to Dr. Gordon Spencer.
Visitation for the late Joyce Parson will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520 from 1-3 p.m. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Fred Courtney officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
