Phyllis Eileen Anderson BAIE VERTE, NB - Phyllis Eileen (Goodwin) Anderson died on Thursday, October 6 at the age of 101 at the Westford Nursing Home. Phyllis was born in the Goodwin homestead in Baie Verte, New Brunswick on September 30, 1904; the youngest daughter of the late Ernest Pascoe and Irene (Irvine) Goodwin. She studied nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. While working in Montreal as a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital, she met and married Russell Anderson. They returned to New Brunswick and together they operated the Anderson family farm. After Mr. Anderson's death, Phyllis moved back to Baie Verte to care for her father and remained in the Goodwin home until after her 100th birthday. Phyllis was a pillar of the community and contributed greatly to village life. She was a faithful member of the United Church in Baie Verte where, for many years, she was responsible for the Church bookkeeping. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening, politics and history, with a particular interest in family history. Phyllis was the sister of the late Mansel Carey Goodwin; the late Ernest Leslie Goodwin, and the late Marion Louise Goodwin. She is survived by a niece, Pamela (Goodwin) Binks of Brighton, South Australia; a nephew Gordon Goodwin of Marion, Massachusetts; four great nieces and one great nephew. A memorial service will be held at the United Church in Baie Verte on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Church in Baie Verte or Mount Allison University. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
