Robert C. (George) Smith
Robert C. (George) Smith 1928 - 2005 Robert C. (George) Smith, 77, of Ellesmere Drive, Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, October 17, 2005 from complications of Lou Gehrig's Disease (ALS). Born in Basingstoke, England, he was the son of the late Lillian and William Smith. George was former Manager of Audit Services with Co-op Atlantic, retiring in 1991 with 30 years of service. Prior to moving to Canada in 1956, he was a member of the Royal Air Force with service in England, Gibraltar and the British Embassy, Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Probus Club and a former member of Toastmasters. An avid reader, he also enjoyed classical music and traveled extensively until curtailed by illness. He is survived by his spouse, C. Frances Smith; four sons, Christopher (Linda), Evan (Judy), Craig and Richard (Elizabeth); one daughter, Marsha Greenan (Blair); four grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Laura Smith, Matthew Greenan and Ellen Greenan; and one sister, June Cooke of Goole, England. Visitation at Cadman Bowness Funeral Home, 114 Alma Street, Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service at Cadman's Funeral Home, Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 11:00am, with reception following service. In George's memory, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
