Victor J. W. Hawkes 1931 - 2005 It is with much sadness the MacFarlane family of Hillsborough announce the death at his home of their best friend and mentor, Vic Hawkes "Grandad", November 10, 2005. Born November 27, 1931 in Demoiselle Creek, only child of Jordan and Leota (Steeves) Hawkes. Like many young men of the time he worked "In the Woods". In the 50's he followed friends to Ontario working in the trucking industry until 1971 when he returned to NB and was employed by the Dept. of Highways retiring in 1985. He loved young people always ready to help, listen, advise or give them a drive. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, travelling and bluegrass music. He was a director, an active and dedicated member of the Hillsborough Kiwanis Club. A former valued volunteer with the Hillsborough St. John Ambulance Brigade. He is survived by his loving daughter and granddaughter, Stacy and Natasha of Ontario; also by friend, Joyce and her children, Martin, Arlene, Scott, Marcy, Brent and Boyd; grandsons, Alex, Connor, Mathieu, Adam and Andy and a very special great granddaughter, Olivia and her mother, Virginia. As was his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be in the family plot in the Curryville Cemetery. Memorial remembrances to the Hillsborough Kiwanis Club Building Fund or the Curryville Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
