Ruth Boothroyd SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Ruth Boothroyd, age 87, of Sackville occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2006. Born in Gairloch, NS, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Dr. George and Rae (Mowatt) Christie. In early years she was a court stenographer, Secretary to the Premier of PEI. She participated in the ministry of her late husband, Rev. Donald Boothroyd, was national president of the UCW and active in many other church and community organizations. Ruth was a member of the Sackville United Church. Ruth will be sadly missed by her six sons, Allan (Sharon), Manotick, ON, Andrew (Lynn), Orleans, ON, Ted (Margaret), Fredericton, NB, David (Shae), N. Vancouver, BC, Gordon (Melody), Stratford, PEI and Frank, Windsor, NS; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Anna Christie, Fredericton and a brother, Rev. Howard (Dorothy) Christie, St. Lambert PQ. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald in 1979; and by a brother, Clarence. The remains have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300). A Memorial Service will be held at the Sackville United Church on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 3pm, Rev. Gail Hopkirk officiating. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday at the Sackville United Church from 1 pm until the time of the memorial service, all are invited to meet with Ruth's family during that time. Burial will be held in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
