Edith C. Goodwin
Edith C. Goodwin 1915-2006 It is with deep regret the family of Edith Christine Goodwin announce her passing at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, January 23, 2006. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on December 16, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Thompson) McCarthy. She grew up in Amherst and lived there prior to moving to Moncton in 1956. For many years Edith enjoyed spending her winters in Lakelands, Florida. She was an adherent at The Moncton Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her loving husband Carmen; son Joe Mitchell (Marjorie) of Darthmouth; two grandsons, Scott (Heather) of Calgary, and Darren (Heather) of Dartmouth; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband John Mitchell; a son George Vincent in infancy and several brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday January 26 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 2:00 o'clock; Rev. Jay Guptill officiating. A reception for Edith's friends and family will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Osteoporosis Foundation, Parkinson's Foundation or a memorial of the donor's choice.
