Lilian Bernice (Perry) Paul
Lilian Bernice (Perry) Paul STANLEY, NB - Lilian Bernice (Perry) Paul, a former longtime resident of Minto, N.B., died on Friday, February 10, 2006, at the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley, N.B. She was 98 years old. Born near Havelock, N.B., in 1907, Mrs. Paul was the eldest child of Walter and Mary (Clark) Perry. She attended rural schools and graduated from the Provincial Normal School in 1925 with a first-class teacher's licence. Her teaching career in the schools of southern New Brunswick spanned nearly half a century. She married Anthony Paul of Minto in 1934, and they operated a general store on the village's Main Street for more than three decades. In the 1950s, Lilian returned to teaching at schools in the Minto area. By her retirement in 1973, she had taught as many as three generations of some Minto families. Apart from her family, literature and art were Lilian Paul's personal passions, and she read and painted extensively in retirement. After her husband's death in 1998, she moved to Fredericton to be closer to her children. Mrs. Paul is survived by her daughter, Clarkia Lindsay of Fredericton, NB; her son, Armand of Durham Bridge, NB; sisters, Erna Beer of Riverview, NB and Elizabeth Constantine of Havelock; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nephews and nieces. A Funeral Service will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minto at 11 a.m. (today) Monday, February 13, 2006.
