Wayne B. Baker 1912 - 2006 KITCHENER, ON - Formerly of Markham, Wayne passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Westmount Nursing Home in Kitchener, on Sunday, February 12, 2006. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie, on October 29, 2005. Loving father of Tony (Dianne) Baker of Moncton, NB, Valerie Evans of Kitchener, ON and Warren Baker of Kitchener, ON. Grandfather of six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. After proudly serving overseas with the Canadian Army in World War II, Wayne retired from military service in 1961. Later in life, he worked in the field of drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselling. Wayne was very active in charitable work as a founding member of the Hospital Special Needs Inc. He was instrumental in establishing the Markham Seniors' Centre and served as president of the Older Adults in Action. He was tireless in his charitable pursuits. Cremation has taken place with interment at Williamsburg Cemetery in Kitchener. A memorial service in Markham will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospital Special Needs Incorporated Fund, the C.N.I.B. or the charity of your choice.
