Robert McGlashing
Robert W. McGlashing PORT ELGIN, NB - The death of Robert McGlashing, age 85, of Westford Nursing Home, Port Elgin, occurred at the home on Thursday, March 9, 2006. Born in Cape Tormentine, he was a son of the late Harvey B. and Emily (Snowdon) McGlashing. Formerly employed with the CN Railway as a conductor and brakeman, he retired to Bible Hill with 35 years of service. In 2003, he came to live with his nephew, Allen and Margaret McGlashing in Melrose, NB. An avid gardener and beagler, he showed his field trial dogs throughout eastern North America with great success. Robert is survived by two brothers, Oswald (Mary) McGlashing and Roy (Phyllis) McGlashing, both of Moncton; and by his sisters, Pearl Smallwood, Port Elgin and Ada (Alonzo) Dobson, Cape Tormentine; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Franklin, Harvey W., Ernest, Russell and Irene. The remains have been entrusted to the care of Jones Funeral Home, 3 W Main St., Port Elgin, (364-1300) with visitation Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the funeral. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 2 pm, Rev. Marion Lloy officiating. Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery in the spring. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
