It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sandy Archie MacDonald age 77 of Dominion Street, Glace Bay. Sandy passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Antigonish he was the son of the late Alex and Leta (McAulay) Farquhar.
Sandy was employed at Sydney Steel prior to joining the military from 1956 to 1970 serving in Cyprus and the Northwest Territories. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Black Watch. He completed he service in Base Gagetown. He was employed at the Radar base until his retirement. He had a great love of mustang cars and was the only one in Nova Scotia in the mid 60s to own a Shelby Mustang.
He will be sadly missed by his best friend and companion of many years, Isabell MacLean; very good friends, Joe (Theresa) Wilson, Glace Bay and nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward.
Visitation for Sandy MacDonald will be held Sunday 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Sandy’s memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care.
