Catherine (nee Steinfeldt) Matthews 1907 - 2006 Mrs. Catherine (Kitty) Matthews, 98, of Riverview and formerly of Woodstock, ON passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. Born in Chesley, ON, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan (Dyce) Steinfeldt. Married to Raymond Earl (Dick) Matthews (deceased), she lived in Woodstock, ON for over 60 years before moving to Riverview almost a decade ago. The last surviving member of a family of nine children, she was very proud of the fact she was able to live in her own apartment until very recently. Fiercely independent, she continued to crochet hundreds of dish cloths every year, which she supplied for sale at the local Buck or Two in Champlain Place. She is survived by two daughters, Bernice Crawford of Largo, FL and Marlene Pearce (Winston) of Riverview; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. Visitation will take place between 7:00pm and 9:00pm on Friday, March 24, 2006 at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995). There will be no funeral service. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date in Woodstock, ON, at Oxford Memorial Gardens, where she will join her husband once again.
