At the Halifax Infirmery with her family by her side on Friday, March 6, 2009, of Elizabeth (Betty) Catherine Callaghan, beloved wife of Wilfred J. Callaghan of Alberton, age 75 years. Loving mother to Jennifer Callaghan of Ottawa, Ont., and dear grandmother to Dillon, Lukus and Katie Chaisson. She is also survived by her sisters, Anne (late Pat) Murphy of Springfield, P.E.I., and Zena (late Tom) Murphy of Barrie, Ont. She was born at James River, Antigonish County, N.S., on January 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Alexander and Mary MacDonald. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn (Roy) Chaisson of Alberton in 1999 and by two brothers and one sister, Peter MacDonald of James River, N.S., Ronald J. MacDonald of Terrace, B.C., and Catherine Watters of Westville, N.S. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Monday afternoon from the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton, for funeral mass at 2 p.m. Interment later in the church cemetery. If so desired, memorials to the CNIB would be gratefully appreciated.
