Richard Andrew Steeves MOUNT UNIACKE, NS - Richard Andrew Steeves, 70, of Mount Uniacke, NS, passed away after a brief illness at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Halifax, on Monday, April 24, 2006. He was the son of the late Lorne C. and Myrtle K. (Smith) Steeves. Following a career which began with the CNR, he moved to the City of Moncton where he eventually became City Clerk under the late Mayor Leonard C. Jones. Moving to Nova Scotia he worked for Royal Trust for a number of years and later became the Solicitor of Administrative Services for the Department of the Attorney General of Nova Scotia. Always interested in civic affairs he served for several years as Mayor of the Town of Stewiacke. Following his retirement, he pursued his love of woodworking, traveling and gardening. Richard is survived by his son Christopher (Leesa) of Fredericton; his daughter, Natalie of Riverview, NB; his sister, Jennie (John) Matthews of Petitcodiac; his brother, Maurice (Marie) of Charlottetown; his grandchildren Jeremy and Samantha of Fredericton; and his special friend and companion Geraldine Sheppard of Mount Uniacke. Predeceased by his brother, Vernard, he is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mona of The Glades, NB, four nieces and nephews and four grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, where visitation will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, April 27. Funeral will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 28 at Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac, with reception to follow. Private family burial.
